3) When should I turn in the Health Science application?
answer: After you have applied for admission to Gulf Coast Community
College you may turn in the Health Science application.
4) The checklist in my selection packet says I must request 'official transcripts' for
things like high school and any previous colleges. What is an 'official transcript'?
answer: An 'official transcript' is a document mailed from one
institution to another. Hand-carried or student mailed transcripts are not official.
5) I have already taken college level English and Math. Do I still have to take the
Florida College Entry Level Placement Test (FCELPT)?
answer: All students desiring entry into the Respiratory
Therapy
program are encouraged to achieve appropriate scores on the college placement
test. Students who have already successfully completed college level
English and/or Mathematics may be exempt from this requirement.
6) I took a placement test at another college. Can I use those scores?
answer: Placement tests taken at other colleges may be acceptable if
they meet all of the following criteria:
a. The test must be the Accuplacer.
b. The sections taken must be the exact sections required for your chosen
program.
c. The administering school must send an official score report to the
Gulf Coast Community College testing office so the scores may be loaded to your Gulf Coast
record.
7) Can I turn in my application late?
answer: Applications are accepted past the deadline for a given class
provided spaces are available.
8) How long is the waiting list to enter the various programs?
answer: All of our programs use a competitive admissions process
rather than a waiting list. Each selection cycle all students applying for that particular
class compete for the available slots. The top students from that group of applicants are
selected to fill the class. Those students not selected can request to be considered for
the next cycle where they will compete with any new applicants to the program. (All
programs have slightly different selection criteria, so the program selection packet
should be consulted for the exact criteria used for selection.)
9) Will the college call me if my application folder is not complete?
answer: It is the responsibility of the student to ensure their
application folder is complete and up-to-date with the current admissions requirements
prior to the program deadline date.
